Steven Rodriguez receives Stellhorn Award for outstanding New Jersey history paper

2014 Nov 24

Steven Rodriguez, history and philosophy major, is one of two TCNJ students to receive the Stellhorn Award for outstanding New Jersey history papers.

Rodriguez’s paper, “From Kingsbury to Mt. Laurel II: Low-Cost Housing and Exclusionary Zoning in Trenton, NJ” won first place in the Term Paper category. The paper looks at how an intricate web of embattled local officials, disappearing federal support, and growth of suburbia led to chronic housing woes in Trenton.

The Stellhorn award was established in 2004 to honor Paul A. Stellhorn (1947-2001) who was a distinguished historian and public servant who worked for the New Jersey Historical Commission, the New Jersey Committee (now Council) for the Humanities, and the Newark Public Library. The award is administered by the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance.
